Small Holes in
Thick Material
![]() Eliminating off line drilling of small holes in thick material allows total in-line manufacturing of these parts.
The Problem: This company, for quality reasons, needed to eliminate its off line drilling operations. Conventional stamping methods were tried but proved unsuccessful. It is known that it is extremely difficult to punch a hole smaller in diameter than the thickness of the material being stamped. The results are poor hole quality, and more often than not, broken punches. The Solution: Using our high velocity Bullet Press technology, less force was required to punch the hole making it possible to punch small holes in thick materials The company now owns over 100 high velocity presses. The part is now completely fabricated inline. Drilling, de-burring, and washing stations were eliminated, saving time and reducing part costs.
